Project Scope
Quassim is one of our long-time regular clients. His latest project was a big one! He needed an all-in-one website that catered for everything related to Covent Garden, London. The site had to out-do its rivals not just on looks, but also on features. Quassim needed the site to offer all sorts of extras to users, including hotel bookings, theatre tickets and information on local businesses in the area. Along with this, Quassim wanted to emphasise a community feel throughout the site.
What we did
Reward the Community
One part that was foremost in our minds from the original concept was the idea of a
community. Quassim wanted to make money from the site, so it was imperative that users kept coming back to it. With that in mind, we designed and developed a bespoke activity points reward system. As users went onto the forum and posted, as well as being active on other parts of the site such as uploading photos and posting reviews of businesses, they would earn points onto their account. From there, those points could be cashed for money-off prizes within Covent Garden.
Business Listings
Covent Garden is liturally brimming with local businesses, restaurants, retail stores and theatres. We created a totally bespoke listings system which allows for new businesses to be added to the database, and displayed in a unique way within the main site. Each business has it’s own page within the site, which displays information on the business including opening times, and where it is based. Users who visit the page can write reviews on the business and give a star rating.
Google Maps
Google Maps has quickly become the most popular online mapping tool. We felt it would be essential to include their API system into Covent Garden.com. We integrated their maps system seemlessly into the business pages, with the business location
automatically being pinned on the map image based on the business address input by the admin. This saved time for adding listings, whilst also giving the end user the
opportunity to find out exactly where the business was in relation to Covent Garden itself.
Admin Content Management System
The only way to manage a website of this size was to create a bespoke Content Management System. The system we designed allowed for total control of the entire site, from the business listings right through to the ads that were to be displayed within the site. Everything was custom built to cater for the specific features, and the secure login system means that only the admin can access the editing features. We even integrated an automatic invoicing system for the advertisments.
The End Result
The clients original vision of an all-in-one site was exceeded. We took the concept and expanded it with even more features than originally planned. We’re now working continuously on an extensive marketing plan to make sure the continues to be a success.
The result is a stunning looking website with so many features that it far exceeds any of its rivals on the internet, and has quickly become the leading information website for CoventGarden - proudly displayed on an A-List domain name: CoventGarden.com
